I don’t think I’ve seen more knots anywhere else other than maybe in the ceiling of our family cottage up north. This country inspired pine hutch certainly has it’s fair share of those pesky bleeding knots that seem to be showing through especially when you are trying to paint over them.
I found this lovely pine hutch at auction last month and I had to have it. It’s definitely not antique nor do I think it is vintage but I loved the tongue and grove boards on the back of the shelves and the down home country warm feeling it gives me.
It measures 48″W x 18″D x 30″H + 40″H Hutch and has two drawers on the front of the table and the shelves all have slats to house your collection of fancy plates. The colour I chose for this pine hutch was the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Chateau Gray for the exterior surfaces and Old White for the inner cavity of the shelving unit. I stained the top of the table surface with General Finishes Antique Walnut Gel Stain.
The Chateau Gray was given a dark wax polish and finish and the interior of the shelving unit a clear wax finish. This pine hutch in these colours would look great in any country, seaside, cottage inspired kitchen or dining room.
