A china cabinet that is a little formal and a lot of fun. Hence the name here … the female version of Prince Harry… formal on the outside and a whole heck of a lot of fun on the inside.
Harriet measures: 37″ W x 16″ D x 63″ H plus 5″ crown which would be considered a medium size for a china cabinet. She was painted with a couple of custom colours. I really wanted paint the outside a light gray colour (like Paris Gray) but didn’t have any on hand. But what I did have on hand was my go-to Annie Sloan Old White and a can of a combination of Graphite and Coco. I used about 2/3 of the Old White with the 1/3 of the Graphite/coco mixture.
The inside of the china cabinet was also completed in a custom colour (pour moi). Again this was from paint that I had on hand. I used Old Violet and Graphite (about 10:1) for a deep bluish gray colour on the inside. Fabulous!!!
I wanted the texture to be as smooth as possible, so the second coats of both colours of paint were watered down before I brushed them on. Annie Sloan Clear Wax was then used to seal in the cabinet to provide added durability and provide a lovely visual deep colour and shine.
This piece would look great in any formal dining room, living room, or even a large bathroom for storage behind the large glass door with fretwork or in the large deep front drawer that has also been lined ready for use.
