This two-toned mid-century modern dresser, made by Kaufmann Furniture of Collingwood, Ontario is pretty darn awesome. This is another one of those pieces that have completely done an 180. I also have to mention that it was also another one of my 100% free roadside rescues. Gotta love those!! This one was found in our neighbourhood and I’ve decided to call it “Jack”. A well built six drawer MCM dresser with deep drawers and great lines. The hardware is made out of the same maple as the rest of the cabinet. Just perfect.
I started by painting the whole cabinet except the drawer fronts with General Finishes Milk Paint in Lamp Black. The wooden handles also got a few coats of the milk paint, while the drawer fronts got many coats of Antique Walnut Gel Stain also by General Finishes. I applied the gel stain with a towel and as I built the layers up I got these cool lines of gel stain on the surface.
The whole surface was then given a coat of Artisan Enhancements, a non-VOC soy based (oil) product that goes on milky and dries completely clear and matte. I just love working with it!!
This piece would look great at the front door or mudroom with tons of storage and is oh so sleek and modern. This would also look great as a TV console or buffet.
It measures: 56 1/2″W x 18″D x 34″H.
