This lovely antique painted dresser was purchased over the border from a nice lady named “Holly”- very fitting name for this lovely dresser. I knew I wanted to “fancy her up” a bit as she was in really rough shape when I got her. There were many deep gouges and much of the veneer off of the front of the drawers was chipped and needed filling. The drawers on this antique painted dresser also needed fixing as a few of the runs needed repair.
I found this great inspiration piece on Pinterest to finish the antique painted dresser just so. I mixed my Annie Sloan Duck Egg Blue and Aubusson Blue in equal parts and applied it to the majority of the cabinet, leaving the drawers to be painted with ASCP Old White. Each colour needed two coats. I then fairly heavily distressed the antique painted dresser and then applied a good coat of ASCP Clear Soft Wax.
I then applied my dark wax and began taking it off with the clear wax to again give the antique painted dresser a beautiful patina. Lastly to give the piece a beautiful pop of interest I added this gilding wax that I purchased last week from my stocklist Melanie. Just what the antique painted dresser needed~!!! I’m in love with it.
It measures 32″W x 19″D x 52 1/2″ H (to the top of the crown).
