What a statement black can make!! My local client Christina chose Lamp Black by General Finishes to complete this single pedestal oak veneered table. I really do enjoy redoing this tables….. I think I’ve completed 4 almost exactly like this. This is the first one I’ve done all black. I love the bulkiness of the base with ball and claw (albeit this one has been carved) and all the lovely detail on the apron.
I have to mention that this paint is a “milk” paint which is so different from the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint that I typically use. It is thinner in consistency but goes on so luxuriously …. like latex paint on your walls. Chalk Paint (at least ASCP) is much thicker and requires just a tad bit of water to get it going more smoothly. Now, I’ve used GF Milk Paint before and have sealed it different ways. Something new this time I chose to use General Finishes Urethane Topcoat Gel that went on perfectly.
Something else I like to do after everything has dried is put a coat of wax on the tops of my tables I finish. This adds yet another layer of protection and once dried completely can be buffed out to a beautiful shine.
Please let us know if you have any questions about this Lamp Black Table or any other piece we have completed. If you have any piece you’d like to have finished please do send us a line.
