This red painted buffet in the revival Jacobean style was picked up in Stoney Creek, Ontario from a gentleman named Wayne. He lived on “President” Street hence why I called him president. One of my facebook readers suggested I call it “Mr. President”. Love it!!
This lovely walnut cabinet was with this gentleman for the last 8 years. It’s clearly been around for much longer than that. The sticker on the back of the red painted buffet is not in tact. But the date of September 10, 1929, and the fact that it was made in Kitchener, Ontario gave me a good indication that it was probably made by the Krug Brothers Furniture Company or the Lippert Furniture Company.
I painted this piece in the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Emperor’s Silk. This red is so amazing and works well with the stain I used and giving it a bit more patina I dark waxed all of the red areas. I refinished the top surface, long drawer and cupboard doors (minus the fretwork) with General Finishes Java Gel Stain. I really love the way this red painted buffet turned out.
It measures: 62″W x 20″D x 38″H and would look great in any dining room particularly for Christmas!!.
