My husband and I picked up this lovely painted waterfall buffet from a local couple not too far from where we live. It’s so nice to meet people in our neighbourhood and find out a little bit about what they do and where these pieces come from. This buffet belonged to the lady’s aunt who’s name was “Maria”. It’s a classic walnut art deco-ish waterfall design.
I’ve repainted this piece after using it over the last couple of years in my own home. Originally I had stripped the top surface of this cabinet and used a mixture of General Finishes Antique Walnut and Java Gel Stains. I repeated this process this past month to give it a fresh new surface. I then repainted the rest of the cabinet including the back band with a fairly new brand (to me) of paint called Fusion Mineral Paint in a colour called Coal Black. It’s really a lovely durable paint that doesn’t require a secondary sealer. One less thing to do is always a bonus!
The hardware was cleaned and given a spray of both Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze and Copper to achieve a deep brass look to compliment the refinished top surface. The perfect paper to line the drawers was added for the finishing touch.
I used to have one of these pieces unfinished for many years and I absolutely loved it. I’m so glad I was able to find another one similar to that one. Having the hardware intact was integral to this piece and I was very lucky to have had these included with the purchase. I’m so very happy with the result…. I hope you like it too!!
This painted waterfall buffet measures: 60″W x 20″D x 38 1/2″H (to top of backband)
