Another piece of furniture that has succumbed to downsizing. This painted oak hutch was sold to me as a result of the retirement of a very nice lady named Maureen that lived on “York” Avenue in St. Catharines that was moving and downsizing with her husband to Virgil.
This is a stately old thing was a vintage piece when she and her husband purchased it in Toronto some forty years ago when they first got married. It measures 40″W x 16″D x 64″ H with a glass cabinet to house those special pieces of china and a lock to ensure that they are safe. The lower cabinet to has a locked cabinet and two small drawers for additional storage. If you look closely the oak hutch as these wonderful feet and beautiful lines that end in a stately ornate design.
It has been painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in an Old White, lightly distressed and waxed for both durability and depth of colour. The interior of the glass cabinet was painted in Duck’s Egg Blue to provide a deep contrast with the light white colour of the outside of the oak hutch.
