This perfectly sized painted oak hall tree was found on “Hillview” in west St. Catharines. This piece is extra long and BARELY fit into the back of our SUV. Picture this, my husband and I had to push our seats right up to the front of the vehicle and drive with our knees into the dashboards and this was hilarious as we are NOT small people and laughed our heads off all the way home. Needless to say, it had been sitting in the studio for a few weeks not knowing what exactly I wanted to do with it.
The mirror was broken so I first had a new piece cut to fit. While waiting for that to come in and between other jobs I cleaned out my studio a bit and had a few cans that were “almost” empty. Some Old White, Country Grey and a bit of that grey/blue colour I used on the Ronda Table and base for the Danielle Dresser. This produced this beautiful creamy neutral with just a tinge of green in it. After two coats I distressed the edges of the piece quite heavily and clear waxed the entire piece with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Soft Clear Wax.
The brass hardware received a clean and rehung.
This is the perfect size for any small foyer or mudroom to hang and store all your goodies as you come in and out the door.
It measures: 28 1/2″ W x 18″D x 77 1/2″ H
