I’ve finally completed my newly decorated office!! This has been a long haul but I think I’m pretty happy with the way things turned out (for now anyway). I do have a bad habit of moving things around, ah-lot! So things will most likely look a little different tomorrow than they do right now. Come on in and enjoy my little tour.
Welcome to my office. This room was originally the dining room in this house. When we first moved here we renovated and closed this room off from the living room and built a fireplace on the other side of this long wall. Because it was originally the dining room some of the details like the ceilings have this lovely coved feature and a large window that looks out to our front porch/yard. I painted this room in a smokey green colour and did a stenciled feature wall and all the details here ( stenciled wall project.) The french pinch pleat curtains were another DIY project I finished for this room with details here ( curtain project.)
All of the items except for the Moroccan inspired carpet and curtains were bought second hand and either painted, refinished or left as is. My favourite place to find pieces is Kijiji, which is the Canadian version of Craig’s List. I have to say it’s one of my favourite pass times, scrolling through hundreds of new listings every day.
I was going to paint this french provincial filing cabinet but liked the look of it as it is. It’s not old (or even vintage for that matter) but I needed somewhere to put my files. I downsized from a large two drawer cabinet size so much of the old files were designated to the burn box. I just love throwing stuff out.
Kitty in the window gave us a nice silhouette in this photo and a shot of my great storage box made from an old singer sewing machine, here is a post on those creative storage solutions.
The painted armoire was the special project I documented here and I absolutely love the way it turned out!! It has both function and beauty!
These leather tub chairs were also found on Kijiji in St. Catharines. They look great but unfortunately are very uncomfortable. I thought they were perfect for my office – just sooooo awesome!!!
Check out the legs on this table. It was posted on Kijiji as a buck legged leather top oak desk and was owned by a lovely couple from the small historic town of Queenston just north of Niagara Falls and south of Niagara-On-The-Lake. It is a designer desk made by Bill Blass. I thought at first the legs looked a bit creepy but after I got past the shock of them I just fell in love.
Can you tell I LOVE my coffee!!
The wooden steno chair is made by the Krug Furniture company of Kitchener, Ontario. It was given to us by our friend Ronda when she was downsizing and couldn’t take everything with her to her next home. The midcentury modern tall dresser was another addition to complete the storage solution situation in the office.
Well, it certainly is a mix of eclectic pieces. But for me, it creates an inspirational backdrop to write my blogs, pay my bills and meet with clients.
Thanks for taking a tour of my new office space with me today. I hope you’ve enjoyed yourself. I would love to hear what you think about it!! Good and/or bad….. I’m always learning and hope to evolve my skills and creative on a daily basis.

Maxine! This is such a lovely space filled with such detail! I love it! The weathered tub chairs are so incredible. The legs on that little table just crack me up! Who does that? I love little things like that because it adds so much more character to a home than going to a big box store and buying a table. The paint finish you did on them just highlights it so perfectly. By the way, I love coffee too. So, here’s a morning Starbucks toast to you, my friend, for a gorgeous room makeover.
