This lovely Jacobean Painted Buffet was dropped off by a lovely couple, who just recently moved to Niagara On The Lake from Toronto. Her name is “Tannis” so I fittingly call this piece that! They’ve had this lovely buffet for some time and brought it with them from Toronto and it was in need of a spruce up for their new space.
This buffet/sideboard is a classic Jacobean piece that has wonderful lines and ornate moldings that are in my opinion on the strong and masculine side. The body and back-banding were finished with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in a custom combination colour of 1:1 Provence and Aubusson Blue. Such a statement this color combination makes!!
After giving the body a couple of coats of paint by hand, I distressed all those lovely edges to give it an old world patina. Like it had taken 50 years to look like that. Finally, the Annie Sloan Soft Clear Wax was used to protect and add durability.
The top surface of the Jacobean Painted buffet was chemically stripped, sanded and restained with General Finishes Java Gel Stain.
I just love how this piece came out. They have it sitting on a light colored wall in their great room.
