I found this french provincial long dresser made by Hespeler Furniture, on the outskirts of Caledonia, Ontario. It’s a large dresser measuring in at 65 1/2″ W x 18 1/2″ D x 33″ H. It also comes with the three-panel elegant mirror that sits on top. I could really see this in a red with a dark wax but I thought it prudent to paint it my “go to” colour of Old White. One of these days I will do that red in this style!!
I first refinished the top. Stripping, sanding and applying General Finishes Java Gel Stain. The final step for the top was to use a polyurethane (oil based) sealer. I chose the General Finishes Gel Topcoat. I then painted the French provincial long dresser with three coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White, distressed and applied Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Clear Soft Wax for added protection and durability. Perfection!!
What a statement this would make in any bedroom or perhaps if you’re brave you could use it in your dining room as a buffet or sideboard (it certainly is large enough).
A lovely wooden shapely mirror is included with this piece.
